When will we get a break?
Happy Friday. The only really good thing is that this week is over. Between the (annoying) inflation report, how the markets reacted to said report, and the other implications - all to be discussed later - we think everyone could all use some “me” time. Just remember: don’t hate the player, hate the game.

For many dog owners in the research triangle area of North Carolina, a potentially serious respiratory illness is posing a treat. This has been spreading for some time and no known cause yet. So if you are in the area, it’s advised to keep an eye where your dog is at all times. Antibiotics have not shown to be 100% effective within the first treatment which is always a concern.
Pandemic Blip in Spay/Neuters
In a recent study, it was found that the pandemic blip in veterinary medicine continues to show itself in new ways - a decline in shelter/low-cost spay and neuters. The efforts to increase these types of practices has helped control overpopulation over the past several decades. However, the pandemic forced a number of these operations to close in the early days of the lock down and didn’t quite recover over 2021 to previous levels. We will have to wait and see if the numbers changed over 2022.
A Dose of Happiness
Traveling is one of our favorite past times, but Tom Turich took it dog took it to a whole new level by hiking the entire world over 7-years. Pretty sure our dogs with short legs would not be inclined to do this.
When you really just want to cool off, we all want to be like this pup. I mean who actually cares if the fish have running water in their pond?

Pretty sure everyone is avoiding looking at their retirement accounts - assuming they still exist - after the rough week on the stock market. Most of the ‘negative Nancy’ was a results of an inflation report Tuesday morning that proved July 2022 inflation was not the start of the trend we all wanted to see. Instead, month-over-month change in inflation was an increase of 0.1%, while year-over-year change was 8.3%. The item most responsible for this crime against humanity was electricity and natural gas prices. Unfortunately, core CPI is also still rising, but with some deceleration in the trend. All of this means that we will continue to face higher prices at the grocery store and for other basic goods. The bright spot to all of this is the steady, 3-month decline in gas prices; which means we should all now go on vacation and leave the kids behind.
